A U.S. resident since 1971, he's dedicated to his family, consisting of his wife, Dr. Pamela Egan, four children, and six grandchildren. The Egan family has resided in St Tammany Parish for over three decades.

His career boasts of several accomplishments, including the foundation of Egan Home Health Hospice in 1988 with his wife. Over 32 years, the company grew exponentially, employing over 400 professionals and expanding to nine local offices. It developed a stellar reputation in local and regional healthcare markets, eventually being acquired by a national provider. Before this venture, he honed his skills as an administrator for a renowned psychiatric hospital, gaining valuable experience in healthcare management.

His career highlights include the growth of his home health companies from modest beginnings to becoming a local powerhouse. He served as a state home care association board member and was recognized with the Hall of Honor award in 2019 for his significant contributions. He also served on the Pharmacy Advisory Board of the Joint Commission, the largest accrediting body for healthcare institutions in the U.S., for a decade.

Outside his professional life, he is actively involved in charitable endeavors, currently participating in James Samaritan, an organization assisting young people aging out of foster care. He previously worked with Safe Harbor, a group providing shelter for women and children in abusive situations, alongside his wife, who led the organization. Though not currently active in Safe Harbor, their dedication to helping others remains evident.

A genuine lover of horses, he has been involved in various equine activities for 30 years. He supported his daughter's horse passion, leading her to fourth place nationally in English riding. Now a skilled head and neck and plastic surgeon managing a horse farm, his daughter shares her father's love for horses. He is also developing a 1200-acre cattle ranch with two sons, showcasing his connection to nature and animals.

His equine hobby extends beyond horses, as he revels in the outdoor experience. The interaction with horses and cattle brings him joy and a sense of peace.
